God is far too great to fully understand. He has no beginning and He has no end.God lives in Heaven and rules over the whole earth.
Isa. 66:1 Thus says the Lord: "Heaven is My throne, And earth is My footstool. Where is the house that you will build Me? And where is the place of My rest?
Ps. 47:8 God reigns over the nations; God sits on His holy throne.
We will look at special truths about God. These are facts about God's unchanging character. Through these you will understand more of what God is like. Let us also ask the Holy Spirit to help us to understand God.
1Cor. 2:9-12 But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him."10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.
A. WHAT IS GOD LIKE?
1. GOD IS CREATOR OF EVERYTHING.
Neh. 9:6 You alone are the Lord; You have made heaven, The heaven of heavens, with all their host, The earth and everything on it, The seas and all that is in them, And You preserve them all. The host of heaven worships You.
Ps. 139:13-16 For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother's womb. 14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.
2. GOD IS ALL-POWERFUL
Rom. 9:19-21 You will say to me then, "Why does He still find fault? For who has resisted His will?" 20 But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, "Why have you made me like this?" 21 Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor?
1Chron. 29:11 Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, The power and the glory, The victory and the majesty; For all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, And You are exalted as head over all.
Eph. 3:20-21 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
3. GOD IS ALL-KNOWING
Hebr. 4:13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
1John 3:20 For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.
4. GOD IS HOLY
1Sam. 2:2 "No one is holy like the Lord, For there is none besides You, Nor is there any rock like our God.
1Pet. 1:15-16 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy."
5. GOD IS SPIRIT
John 4:24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."
6. GOD IS A PERSON YOU CAN KNOW
James 4:8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Ps. 145:18 The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth.
Gal. 4:9 But now after you have known God, or rather are known by God, how is it that you turn again to the weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage?
7. GOD IS A LOVING FATHER
1John 3:1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
Matt. 7:11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
B. GOD IS TOO GREAT TO LIVE IN TEMPLES
Acts 17:24 God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands.
1Kings 8:27 But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You. How much less this temple which I have built!
C. WE ARE:
1. CREATED BY GOD.

2. OWNED BY GOD
1Cor. 6:19-20 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.
3. CALLED TO WORSHIP GOD
Rev. 4:11 "You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created."
D. MAKE A DECISION TO FOLLOW HIM EVERY DAY
Matt. 22:37-39 Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'
Joshua 24:15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
