THE MYSTERY OF PRAYER

Kainos Revolution

Updated: Dec 25, 2024

Prayer is a mystery to many of us. We all pray to God and wonder why God doesn’t hear our prayers. We find God’s will in the Bible and pray God’s will, but when nothing happens, we give up praying. We say that we believe but have become “unbelieving” believers.

Many books have been written about prayer and books that encourage us to pray but the mystery stays. We need to find the “key” to unlock the mystery of prayer. The best thing we can do is to go to the “manual of prayer,” the Bible. When we research the prayers in the Bible, we find the “mystery of prayer.” We have to find the first prayer in the Bible to get the “key” to unlock the mystery of prayer.

We can find the first prayer in the Bible in the book of Genesis, the book of beginnings. In the book of Genesis, we will discover the mystery of prayer that will not only change your prayer life but also revolutionize your life. You will wonder now where the first prayer in the Bible is recorded, will it be the prayers of Cain and Abel, the prayer of Noah, or the prayer of Abraham? All wrong! We need to remember a profound principle in the Bible, God is the first and the last in all things.

Isa. 41:4 Who has performed and done it, Calling the generations from the beginning? ' I, the Lord, am the first; And with the last I am He.'

Rev. 1:17 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, "Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last.”

We can find the first prayer in the Bible in the first chapter of the book of Genesis. We will see that the first prayer in the Bible is a prayer from God Himself. Understanding that God is the beginning of all prayer is the key to unlocking the mystery and power of prayer.

Gen. 1:3 Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.

The first prayer recorded in the Bible is a prayer from God Himself. He prayed, “Let there be light!” It is God’s will that the works of darkness will be destroyed. The evil works of the enemy were chaos, emptiness, and darkness. (Gen. 1:2) God called for light that canceled and destroyed the enemy's chaos, emptiness, and darkness.

God called you into being to be the light of the world. This was His plan and desire from the beginning. You were created to destroy the works of the devil. You are in this world to destroy the chaos, emptiness, and darkness. (1John 3:8)

In the following prayer, we see another important key that reveals the mystery of prayer. In the next prayer, we see that God not only prays, He also answers the prayer. God prays and God answers!

Gen. 1:6-7 Then God said, "Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters." 7 Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so.

We see here God’s prayer, “Let there be a firmament.” And then God “made the firmament.” God prays and then God made! This is the mystery of prayer!

Real prayer is done by God Himself, and He is the one who answers prayer. God is the beginning and God is the end!

When we continue to read the story of the creation, we see the same thing happening over again. God prays, and God answers!

Gen. 1:14-16 Then God said, "Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; 15 and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth"; and it was so. 16 Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. 17 God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18 and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.

We see here that God prays, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens.” After that God answers the prayer, “Then God made two great lights.” After God answered the prayer, He even put the lights in the appointed place He prepared for them. “God set the two great lights in the firmament of the heavens.”

God is the beginning and the end; He is the first and the last! He calls things into being, creates and makes everything, puts everything in its appointed place, and lets it function according to His purpose.

You are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. You are the light of the world, and God placed you with Christ on the throne in the heavenly places. He also placed you here on earth and He predestined you to walk as His son here on earth. (Eph. 2:10, Matt. 5:14, Eph. 2:6, 1John 2:6)

Gen. 1:20-22 Then God said, "Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens." 21 So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 And God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth."

God asked for the fish and the birds to appear and God created the fish and the birds. God prays and God anwers! When God made living beings, He blessed them to be fruitful and to multiply. God prays, God answers and God blesses!

We see the same thing happen when God asks and makes the animals.

Gen. 1:24-25 Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind"; and it was so. 25 And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

And lastly, we see the same thing happen when God prays for the creation of people who are in His image and likeness and then God makes people in His image. God blessed what He has made and gave man power to rule and have dominion on the earth.

Gen. 1:26-28 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth."

The mystery of prayer is revealed, it is God who prays and God who answers, and this is bringing results. We have to come to the place where we are crucified with Christ so that it will not be us, but the Lord Jesus Christ who lives in and PRAYS through us. (Gal. 2:20)

If we want to have powerful prayers, we have to keep this principle that we can read in the New Testament as well. The Lord Jesus Christ asks us to ask in His name and He will do it!

John 14:13-14 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

You ask in His name and He will do it. It sounds totally like Genesis chapter 1.

We want God to ask and God to answer so that it will be Christ in all and through all.

We know in the New Testament that when we accepted and believed in Christ, we received the Helper, the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity God.

God the Holy Spirit will help us to pray, and He will answer our prayers.

Rom. 8:26-27 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Eph. 6:18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints--

Jude 1:20-21 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

Let God the Holy Spirit, help you with prayer. God will always hear the prayer of the Son and the Holy Spirit. God will pray through you, the Holy Spirit will help you to pray, and the prayer of the Righteous will avail much. (James 5:16) God, the Righteous One will pray in and through you. God praying through you will unlock the mystery and power of prayer. God prays and God answers!

John 11:42 And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me."
