Isaiah 49:24-25 Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, Or the captives of the righteous be delivered? 25 But thus says the Lord: "Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, And the prey of the terrible be delivered; For I will contend with him who contends with you, And I will save your children.
We are living in difficult times; we are living in dangerous times. The youth in our times are confused about their identity, gender, and belief system. There is a lot of confusion among the youth in our time because of an overload of information through social media. Many of our youth have to deal with serious mental problems, and suicide rates are increasing in alarming numbers.
It is not only difficult for unbelieving parents but also for Christian parents who experience the pain and trauma of seeing their children leaving their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and see them struggling with mental problems and suicidal thoughts or even worse.
Our Father in Heaven can understand us parents better than anybody in this world. He knows the pain of being separated from His children because of their sins. He did and is doing everything to get His children back. He even sacrificed His only begotten Son to get the legal right to get His children back. In the verse above we see that our Father in Heaven wants to be involved in saving our children. He will do that by contending with “him” (devil) who contends with us parents. In the Strong’s concordance, we can see the deeper meaning of the word contend.
Strong's H7378 - rîḇ
to strive, contend
(Qal)
to strive
physically
with words
to conduct a case or suit (legal), sue
We find that the word contend has a relationship with a court case; the Lord wants to help you win your battle by contending for you in the courts of heaven. This gives us hope because probably you have done everything in your might to get your children back, you prayed and fasted and haven’t seen any change or improvement. The verse in the book of Isaiah shows us that we should not give up hope and that we should stand strong in our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Firstly, we see that there is somebody who contends with us in a court case. That means that the devil found a legal right to steal our children. That can be because of our sins as parents or because of the sins of our children. We should first repent of our own sins when we come before God and after that repent on behalf of the sins of our children or our culture.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 5:16-17 If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin which does not lead to death, he will ask, and He will give him life for those who commit sin not leading to death. There is sin leading to death. I do not say that he should pray about that. 17 All unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin not leading to death.
When after confessing our sins we become righteous and clean before God the devil has nothing to contend or accuse us of. Now it becomes time to ask the Lord to contend with the devil on our behalf and get our children back.
The Bible shows us that we can claim our children back who had been stolen by “the thief” who comes to steal, kill, and destroy. We should not only claim our children back in the courts of heaven but we should claim restitution according to God’s laws. We should not let the devil get off the hook and let him pay back so that he never will forget and knows with whom he is dealing with.
Ex. 22:1 "If a man steals an ox or a sheep, and slaughters it or sells it, he shall restore five oxen for an ox and four sheep for a sheep.
When the devil stole an ox, which is a leader according to 1 Tim. 5:17-18, he needs to pay back five oxen/leaders. When the devil stole one sheep, which is a believer according to John 10:3, he needs to pay back four sheep/believers. That will teach the devil a lesson that he should not even have the nerve to touch your children again.
We all have experienced that believers lost their faith and left the church. We can apply the same method to get people back and get a restitution of four or five people.
If we really take this seriously and bring these cases in prayer before our “Judge” we can start a great revival and start to see lost souls entering the Kingdom of God.
Our Heavenly Father, Judge of all, we come before You to repent of our sins and on behalf of the sins of our children. We ask you for forgiveness and to take away all accusations against us and our children. We ask you that you will contend with the devil according to Isaiah 49:25 and that you will save our children. We also ask for restitution according to Exodus 22:1 that there will be restitution for every fallen leader five leaders, and for every fallen believer four believers. Father, Judge of all, we know that you are a righteous and just Judge and that you will speedily avenge those who pray to you! We pray and ask in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
Hebr. 12:22-24 But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, 23 to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24 to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.
